The Department of Defense Credentialing Opportunities On-Line (COOL) program helps military members connect their military experience with civilian credentials like certifications, licenses, and apprenticeships. Each military branch — Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard — has its own COOL website tailored to its occupations. These sites provide funding resources and guides to help Service members pursue credentials that enhance their military professionalism and support their transition to civilian careers.
The DOD COOL site serves as a central hub linking all branch-specific COOL programs. It also includes resources like the DOD Civilian COOL for federal employees and a Military Occupations Explorer to show how military and civilian roles align.
The COOL initiative began in 2002 and has grown through collaboration between the Services, improving efficiency and access to professional credentialing across the military.
STEP 1
Reach out and let us know your intent to apply DoD funding to one of our FCC courses.
Do Not pay in advance.
We will send you an itemized invoice with the course broken down into preparatory and exam fees. This is important!
STEP 3
Once your funding is processed, we will receive it and then notify you.
Now it's time to get to work! Feel free to come and go, stepping through the course sections as you have time.
Keep in mind, you will need to show proof of completion to your respective branch within a certain timeframe so don't take too long. We will periodically check in with you to see how things are going.
STEP 4
You've completed all the work and passed the exams. We've submitted your application and you've received your official FCC license.
Now it's time to show proof you have completed your goal to your organization.
You will need to upload this proof (course certificate and FCC license) to your service branch and you're done!
